To celebrate this fresh, innovative perspective, High Point by Design (HPxD) and Science in Design are cohosting, Designing Wellbeing: Neuroaesthetics, Biophilia and the Healing Power of Beauty at High Point Market. The symposium will take place on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26. The first day will feature dynamic presentations and panels, with the second day dedicated to showroom tours and engagement with brands who have embraced these principles in their ethos and product development.
The event brings an impressive lineup of speakers including William Browning, Managing Partner in Terrapin Bright Green and a leading authority on biophilic design, human productivity and wellbeing. Also featured is interior designer Caleb Anderson, Principal at Drake/Anderson and Founder of Well-Designed, who is actively advocating for a new conversation around luxury design that incorporates health and sustainability. This will be Browning’s first visit to High Point Market.
Additional sessions will highlight designers who have incorporated biophilic design into their practice to promote wellbeing, as well as discussions with manufacturers embedding these principles into their creative process. You’re presenting three pieces of furniture to your client. They might be sofas or dining tables or chandeliers. Piece B costs twice as much as A, and C is twice as much as B. Looking at them, you can see some differences, but is piece C really worth 4 times as much as A?The answer is not obvious; it’s often buried deep within the things you cannot see. In this panel discussion, leaders of three major furniture brands that build to three different value propositions and sell at three different price levels join two professional furniture designers and a residential interior designer to fill you in on how to uncover the value of a piece of furniture–and then communicate that value to your client. After the discussion, attendees are invited to visit the participating brands’ showrooms to apply what they’ve just heard to a finished product.Sponsored By:
