Creating a Smarter Showroom: How to Sell Your Styles, Part 2

Colorful Tips to Make Your Showroom Shine

In our last post we talked about product placement, sight lines and a bit about accessorization.  Now it’s time to take out your Crayola® box and think about color.  We’re not suggesting using every color in the box, but we do want you to consider how color, color psychology and lighting impact your sales opportunities.

1. Update your palettes to include trending colors.  It’s easy and inexpensive to repaint walls and architectural areas.  Your products will look fresh and your customers will recognize that you are attuned to important shifts in the design world.
2. If using risers, paint them the same color as the walls for a seamless look

3. Experiment with bold paint colors to tell a story
4. Layer similar colors to add dimension
5. Introduce a new color palette through accessories

 6. Soften corners and break up a color palette with natural greens and live plants

7. Ample track spot lighting allows darker paint colors to contrast with lighter-toned furniture
8. No windows?  Give a feeling of natural light with walls designed to look like windows
9. Take advantage of decorative lighting to draw your customer’s attention to special settings

10. Utilize barn doors that can be open one market and closed the next to change the flow and feel of your showroom with no impact on your budget.  And, when the collection changes, modify the barn door with fresh paint or stain, or new molding or hardware to better reflect the setting.  Minor changes will read new and fresh.

Until next time, keep designing and keep selling.
